Havkanten is set in the historic fishing village of Husvær, surrounded by the islands and open sea of the Helgeland coast.

Since opening in 2019, Havkanten has become a place for those seeking something different – tranquillity, authentic coastal culture, memorable food and extraordinary nature.

Here, the sea is always close.

A place with history

For generations, Husvær welcomed fishermen travelling along the Norwegian coast to and from the legendary Lofoten fisheries.

Today, the character of this historic fishing community lives on at Havkanten – in the buildings, the harbour and the stories that have shaped this place.

We have preserved that character while creating a warm and welcoming retreat for guests from Norway and around the world.

Flavours of the coast

Our kitchen is inspired by Helgeland, the sea and the changing seasons.

Local ingredients and fresh seafood take centre stage, accompanied by carefully selected wines, sparkling drinks and locally brewed beer.

In summer, life moves closer to the water as our Bryggepub becomes a natural meeting place for guests, locals and visitors arriving by boat.

Havkanten offers 17 rooms and 42 beds, surrounded by the extraordinary landscape of the Helgeland archipelago.

Explore the islands by kayak or bicycle, enjoy the warmth of our waterfront sauna – or simply slow down and take in the silence, fresh coastal air and endless horizon.

Havkanten can be reached by road and ferry, private boat – or even seaplane.

Together with Adventure Helgeland, we can also arrange your journey from the moment you arrive in Helgeland.

Travel by private charter RIB through the archipelago from Sandnessjøen, Brønnøysund or other destinations along the coast.
